Ksenia Klim: “Journalists are bridges between the military and the civilian population”
On November 25, a third meeting was held for third-year students of the Faculty of Journalism with a guest speaker from a series of classes in a remote format within the elective course “Social Psychology of Mass Communication.” This time it was a well-known Lviv TV journalist Ksenia Klim, the author of the popular project “History of the Hero” on TRK “First Western”. The meeting was organized by the lecturer of the course, associate professor of the Ukrainian press Solomiya Onufriv.
As an expert in interviewing the military, doctors, volunteers, Ksenia enthusiastically shared with students her professional experience, sometimes so painful and difficult, but extremely valuable. She stressed that “journalists are bridges between the military and the civilian population, which should be aimed not at gathering information from the” hot spot “, but a sincere conversation with the person.” “If your respondent starts crying, don’t hesitate to cry yourself. Klim willingly told why she decided to go to the environmental protection zone, how she could not continue to host TV stories about the military conflict from the “warm studio” without being on the scene, how for eight years she constantly communicates professionally with the military, parents and their wives and children, how the idea of the author’s project “History of the Hero” arose, how he inspired his son to become a soldier and also go to the East. The academic couple passed like 5 minutes, and it is very important that we have the opportunity to meet with such professional journalists and ask them everything we are interested in. Especially when we prepare our own training projects on how to communicate with people who have experienced trauma.
